About The Position

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is seeking a Perioperative Support Associate I to join their Surgery team in the Main Operating Room. This is a PRN (as needed) role working during the day. The PSA is a member of the perioperative nursing team, focusing on patient, specimen, and equipment transport, OR sanitation, and assisting with maintaining unit supply levels.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Maintains current BLS/HealthCare certification.
No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

Cleaning stretchers, O.R. tables, equipment and rooms.
Assisting the registered nurse and anesthetist in transporting postoperative patients to the recovery unit.
Performing operating room sanitation tasks.
Stocking operating room with supplies.
Checking, counting and stocking supplies (warmers, cabinets, bovies, substerile/supply rooms, linen and bags).
Transporting patient specimens, cultures, blood and body fluids to pathology, radiology and the laboratory.
Providing assistance with moving and lifting patients, supplies and equipment.
Reporting defective material or equipment to supervisor.
Under the direct supervision of the Registered nurse and/or anesthesia provider, may assist with positioning of patients for procedures and performs sterile gloving without contamination and holds extremities during patient preparation.
Transporting and delivering items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
May have limited access to areas storing medications.
Maintaining reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintaining compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
