The Perioperative Patient Care Technician assists the clinical team by providing indirect patient care and performing non-patient-care duties in the operating room. Duties include turning over rooms by removing trash, cleaning all areas including the operating room table, making up the table, and mopping the floor; gathering equipment, supplies, and instrumentation for surgical cases; changing operating room tables when needed; and setting up the entire room for the next case or the first case of the day, including making the bed and positioning the necessary equipment. The technician also transports specimens to the laboratory and returns to Central Sterile Processing (CSP), and puts away returns stored in the upstairs operating room area. The role requires being on one's feet for the entire shift, so comfortable, supportive footwear is needed. The position is based in a fast-paced surgical environment at Cooper, whose Camden Campus has 30 operating rooms and performs more than 70 surgeries each day. The schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with weekend, holiday, and rotation requirements.
