About The Position

The Perioperative Patient Assistant 1 functions as a member of the surgical team under the direct supervision and direction of the perioperative registered nurse. The PPA 1 will provide assistance with cleaning and preparing operating rooms, retrieving and cleaning equipment, retrieving and stocking supplies and related items. This role supports the environment of the unit or service and patient care through assistance with prepping and opening supplies before surgery. Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
One year work experience in any field.
Ability to communicate well with others.
Ability to safely lift and transfer patients, equipment, supplies.
Must be responsible and properly trained in the transportation of bio-hazardous items within 90 days of hire.
A PPA candidate may be required to have a valid BLS certification at time of hire as indicated on the position description.

Nice To Haves

Completion of (or enrollment in) the Sterile Processing Course
Certified Nurse Assistant
1 year job experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical laboratory with exposure to decontamination and cleaning processes
Certified registered central service technician (CRCST)

Opening supplies
Wiping down equipment, furniture, and OR space
Mopping
Partnering with a team to achieve an efficient process and meet a turnover target time for completion
