About The Position

Perioperative nurses provide safe and effective care within the perioperative setting. This role involves assisting personnel in evaluating practice and implementing improvements, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and coordinating change within perioperative services. The position requires effective communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills. Responsibilities include data analysis for quality improvement projects, facilitating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring availability of personnel and resources, and adhering to organizational policies and standards. The role also involves providing guidance and feedback to team members, pursuing professional growth, acting as a patient advocate, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current registered nurse licensure in state of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of varied and progressive perioperative experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and effective perioperative care.
  • Assist perioperative personnel in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement.
  • Utilize educational resources to act in compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and manage change within perioperative services and the health care institution.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with perioperative team.
  • Collect and analyze data related to quality or performance improvement projects that apply to perioperative services as assigned.
  • Use effective conflict resolution techniques.
  • Facilitate or serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative care.
  • Assist perioperative personnel in verifying that appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available.
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to perioperative personnel team members and other team members as appropriate.
  • Exhibit professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Pursue professional growth and participate in professional organizations.
  • Pursue professional growth by sharing knowledge, attending, and being involved in professional organizations.
  • Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.
  • Function as a member of the perioperative team.
