About The Position

The CTS Perioperative Education Nurse facilitates and coordinates preoperative education, testing and evaluation for the Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery cases. This role involves changing culture to one that is family-centered and customer-friendly throughout the surgical process. The nurse must collaborate care with clinic CNC, surgeons, NP's or other surgeon representatives, CVPP and CVOR on an ongoing basis. They will provide education and instructions for patients and family/support systems prior to scheduled surgical procedures, order and ensure necessary testing is completed per protocol on scheduled surgical patients, and coordinate visits with Pre Anesthesia Clinic. The nurse will also review Pre Op testing and ensure any abnormal result is reviewed by Surgeon or NP, and any necessary intervention is initiated. The individual must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse in State of Kansas or State of Missouri
  • Must be prepared to interact with patients/families making a complaint or grievance, and sudden requests for information

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor Degree Nursing
  • 2 or more years operating room experience
