About The Position

This full-time position at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC, focuses on providing education and training to nursing and clinical staff within the perioperative setting. The role involves identifying learning needs, designing educational programs based on adult learning principles, and coordinating orientation, training, and competency assessments for various units including the Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy Unit (EU), and Surgicare. The educator will also be responsible for obtaining and maintaining various certifications and acting as a role model for hospital conduct and service behaviors, demonstrating effective time management and communication skills.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
Licensed as RN in the State of North Carolina.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the perioperative setting.
Knowledge of adult-learning principles and planning educational activities.
Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), may obtain within 6 months and willing to obtain instructor certification.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred with specialty certification in Operating Room (CNOR).
Previous teaching experience in a formalized educational setting helpful.

Responsibilities

Assists nursing/clinical staff, primarily in the Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy Unit (EU) and Surgicare, in identifying their learning needs and planning activities to meet their needs.
Utilizes the consultation process to facilitate and enhance achievement of individual departmental/organizational goals.
Designs educational offerings and learning experiences that incorporate adult learning principles.
Coordinate the orientation education and training for the Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Endoscopy Unit (EU) and Surgicare.
Assist with core competencies upon hire and annual recertification to include acquisition of new skills based on new services.
Obtain and maintain BLS Certification and Instructor Certification.
Obtain and maintain PALS Certification and Instructor Certification.
Obtain and maintain ACLS Certification and Instructor Certification.

Demonstrates effective time management, ability to manage multiple projects and meets identified deadlines.
