About The Position

This role involves coordinating outpatient scheduling, including infusions and wound care, and working with clinic teams to ensure a seamless patient transition. The LVN Navigator will assist in resolving financial, insurance, and authorization issues, maintain office supply inventory, and compile medical records. Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding patient and hospital information is essential. The ideal candidate will be organized, meticulous, possess a professional attitude, and have the ability to multitask and adapt to a demanding workload.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience working in health care
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • CA LVN License
  • BLS upon hire
  • Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to department and patient concerns including financial, authorization, and/or insurance issues
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with NIHD staff and the public
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with NIHD staff at all levels as well as the public
  • Develop and maintain a high degree of maturity, integrity, and good judgement
  • Understand the function and work flow of the perioperative department and the services provided

Nice To Haves

  • Prior scheduling in a health care environment strongly preferred
  • Navigator Certification within a year

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate outpatient scheduling including infusions and wound care.
  • Work with clinic teams to optimize seamless transition throughout patient process.
  • Assist in resolving financial, insurance, and authorization issues.
  • Maintain office supply inventory.
  • Compile medical records.
  • Receive requests from physicians’ offices and schedule outpatient procedures according to established guidelines.
  • Organize and perform outpatient charge capture.
  • Review and ensure all appropriate paperwork and orders are completed prior to scheduled outpatient visits.
  • Coordinate with other hospital departments when special needs occur.
  • Answer and screen phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Submit and monitor orders as requested by physicians or nurses.
  • Prepare and maintain all downtime paper forms for outpatient infusion.
  • Order and maintain office supplies for the department.
  • Order and stock department supplies needed for patient care.
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance, and retention of accurate Infusion logs.
  • Participate in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care.
  • Act as a resource and assist other members of the department as needed.
  • Generate and publish an accurate daily call list if Perioperative Administration Clerk is unavailable.
  • Review paperwork for completion prior to being sent to medical records.
  • Accurately capture and record outpatient charges.
  • Assist and cross-train to Perioperative Administration Clerk.
  • Navigate pre-surgery patients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
