About The Position

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is hiring a Perioperative Float Nurse to care for a diverse adult patient population across pre-operative, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), and CPE settings. The nurse supports patients and their loved ones during a vulnerable time, including by providing appropriate education about the plan of care. The position is per diem, onsite, and has variable day start times of 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., or 10 a.m., with participation in a major-holiday call rotation. The hospital is a not-for-profit community teaching hospital and an affiliate of Mass General Brigham. Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Massachusetts Registered Nurse licensure.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
Ability to demonstrate observational skills and set priorities.
Ability to adhere to all I.C.A.R.E. standards.

Nice To Haves

PACU experience is strongly preferred.
Preoperative holding and evaluation experience is preferred.
ASPAN membership is preferred.
CPAN or CAPA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide perioperative nursing care to a diverse adult patient population in pre-operative, PACU, and CPE settings.

Use analytic thinking, observational skills, and prioritization to care for a group of patients.
