Periop Patient Care Asst
About The Position
As our Perioperative Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting efficient surgical operations by preparing rooms, assisting with patient handling, and ensuring the availability and functionality of equipment and supplies. Every day you will open sterile supplies, assist with patient positioning and transport, operate specialized equipment like Stealth and CUSA, manage specimens, and maintain a clean and orderly environment. To be successful in this role, you will skillfully manage equipment setup and maintenance, ensure adherence to safety and infection control standards, collaborate effectively with the surgical team, and contribute to overall departmental performance improvement.
Requirements
- High School GED Metropolitan Test or equivalent, upon hire or
- High School Graduate Metropolitan Test or equivalent, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days
Nice To Haves
- Hospital experience and /or Operating Room experience
Responsibilities
- Assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are available for surgery
- Terminally cleans and disinfects machines and equipment between procedures and at end of shift
- Maintains par levels of and rotate for outdated anesthesia and surgery supplies in all appropriate areas
- Demonstrates understanding of basic principles, rationale and safety when using the Autoclave and VPro to flash items as requested.
