About The Position

As a Perinatal Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you'll work alongside experienced Registered Nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to provide compassionate, evidence-based care in our Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Current license to practice in the State of Maryland.
  • Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy.
  • Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must possess high level of organizational and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in relevant specialty preferred.
  • Previous women's health, mother/baby, nursery, or acute care experience preferred.
  • Previous Operating Room Tech experience or education preferred or must complete Perinatal Tech training course including didactic and clinical training components within 6 months in the job.
  • Must complete NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification during orientation period.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to obstetrical and neonatal patients as part of a collaborative care team.
  • Assist in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using the nursing process and evidence-based practice.
  • Monitor patient conditions and promptly communicate changes to the Registered Nurse and healthcare team.
  • Support mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum and newborn care while promoting a positive patient experience.
  • Accurately document patient care and maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and recognize actual or potential health concerns requiring intervention.
  • Maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and professional development.
  • Practice in accordance with the Maryland Nurse Practice Act, ethical standards, and Meritus policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety by reporting clinical or ethical concerns and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
