The Perinatal Imaging Sonographer performs comprehensive non-invasive, invasive, and vascular procedures to demonstrate OB/GYN anatomy under investigation. This role provides a physiologic assessment of OB/GYN vasculature and fetal well-being, independently producing technically optimal, complete, and accurate images for diagnosis in high-risk OB/GYN patients. The sonographer combines clinical history with sonographic studies, summarizes findings, and documents information for the appropriate physician. They also assist physicians during invasive procedures and maintain patient records. The position requires competent operation of ultrasound equipment, including start-up, shut-down, and modification of technical factors as needed. Patient care is a primary responsibility, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and clear communication about the exam. The sonographer must also be proficient in patient positioning, image critique, and participate in professional development, including continuing education and maintaining certifications. Other duties include ensuring a safe environment, sanitizing equipment, maintaining supplies, and providing technical support for the Ultrasound Department. This role may involve entering charges, communicating with other departments for scheduling, and assuming lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor.
