As a Perinatal Educator Non-Nurse, you will provide education and support to expectant mothers, their support persons, postpartum parents, and community members through structured classroom programs using an interactive teaching style. In this role, you will educate participants throughout the perinatal and neonatal periods, facilitate engaging learning experiences, and serve as a resource for Cleveland Clinic Birthing and Neonatal Services, as well as the community. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire
  • Certification in area of expertise if relevant
  • Experience supporting and/or teaching expectant mothers, their support persons, and postpartum parents
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach class curriculum and engage participants using creative, interactive instructional techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One year of experience or certification/demonstrated knowledge in the specialty area of instruction
  • Women’s health and/or educational experience

Responsibilities

  • Support and teach expectant mothers and their support person, post delivered parents in the postpartum period and the community in a structured classroom program using an interactive teaching style.
  • Serve as a resource person to support the Cleveland Clinic Birthing and Neonatal Services, as well as the community.
  • Teach class content as developed and approved by RN Perinatal Educator or Manager.
  • Utilize skills and teaching ability to transfer information from class curriculum to class participants with positive client evaluations.
  • Operate and troubleshoot facility AV equipment.
  • Utilize current knowledge of maternal/child recommendations and best practices.
  • Teach according to approved departmental outlines.
  • Utilize group facilitation skills and creative, interactive methods.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to pregnant and parenting mothers, fathers, and other family members in a supportive and interactive teaching environment.
  • Maintain class equipment and handouts in orderly and professional manner.
  • Communicate client, staff and educator needs/concerns to manager/administrative assistant in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
