About The Position

Reporting to the CPA Operations Manager, the Performing Arts Technician is primarily responsible for providing varied technical support to the instructional and production programs in the College of Humanities, Social Sciences and the Arts (College) and at the University. The Performing Arts Technician provides production support to students and faculty; supports complex projects, including planning, organizing and construction/implementation for productions; organizes and maintains materials, equipment and facilities for the College; and provides lead work direction to student and other staff members.

Requirements

  • Three to four years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty such as costuming, scenery construction, lighting and special effects, and music/audio production.
  • Professional training or applicable college coursework and practical experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency with computers, Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-placement exam.
  • Must reside in the State of California upon date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, performing arts, music, theatre or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency is desired but not required, English/Spanish preferred.
