About The Position

This position is for a student performer who will engage in various cultural dances, particularly Polynesian dances. The role involves attending practice sessions to enhance performance quality and performing other duties as assigned by management. The job is suitable for students with foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores. The performer must exemplify the university Honor Code and be available for an on-site interview.

Requirements

  • Good health and capable of full range body movement and be capable of moving freely among the guests.
  • Look Polynesian.
  • Able to communicate in English.
  • Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.
  • Must attach resume and current semester class schedule (weekly view).
  • All applicants must be available for an on-site interview at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, HI.
  • Must complete the Form I-9 to verify their eligibility to work in the U.S. and provide actual documents (no photocopies) to prove identity and work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Polynesian dancing experience helpful but not necessary.
  • Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various types of cultural dances.
  • Attends practice sessions to upgrade the quality of performance of current dances.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the management.
  • Learn, and subsequently perform, the various dances of each assigned Polynesian cultures.
