Performance Tools Developer

General MotorsConcord, NC
Hybrid

About The Position

Work within the GM Motorsports program to develop performance metrics, conceptualize new analysis methods, and implement these techniques to produce improved on-track performance. This role involves the derivation and validation of new performance metrics and analysis procedures to better characterize vehicle or team performance. Collaboration with the GM Software group is essential for implementing these methods into production tools. The developer will collaborate with GM supported teams and GM personnel to understand team objectives, participate in a coordinated effort, and convey findings. The position requires a continuous effort to improve GM Motorsports programs’ analysis methods and vehicle dynamics understanding, reimagining new and better solutions to common problems or questions, and staying informed of the latest industry advances. The role draws on math, physics, vehicle dynamics, and data science methods to develop new performance measures for vehicle handling, performance, and potential. It includes prototyping new ideas and validating them against track and test data. The developer will team up with GM Software groups and TWG Motorsports personnel to implement solutions into our production toolchain and collaborate with group Performance Engineers to employ the newest methods and tools into production analysis procedures, continually increasing the insight derived from regular analysis work.
