About The Position

Tests mechanical/electromechanical products and systems within the Mission Energy Lab. Evaluates and identifies issues due to fabrication, operation, application, testing, validation, installation, and repair of mechanical/electromechanical products and systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Ability to use all appropriate testing equipment to perform testing, troubleshooting and evaluation.
• Appropriate safety training to perform job functions (NFPA 70E, OSHA or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years of experience performing HVAC service or testing.
• HVAC knowledge.
• Ability to read and understand English instructions.
• Ability to read and understand bills of material, piping, and electrical diagrams.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced knowledge of refrigeration systems, dehumidifiers, humidifiers and internal components, such as mechanical, electrical and electromechanical components.
• Knowledge of different types of refrigerants (R22, R134a, R407c, R410a, R454B).

Responsibilities

• Testing and evaluating HVAC systems and components.
• Recording and documenting test data.
• Working and communicating with others, including within the department, inter-departmental, and external to the organization.
• Organizing and maintaining equipment and tools necessary to perform testing and evaluation activities.
• Building of testing apparatus including ductwork.
