About The Position

The Performance Solutions Engineer is a versatile role where in you will lead and own thermal and operational performance modeling and analysis for the Gas Power’s global installed base (aftermarket services) GT/ST/CC fleet in support of managing its life cycle performance and architecting performance risk and guarantees and Energy transition studies working closely with Application engineering and Commercial teams. As a Performance Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include but not limited to thermodynamic modeling, configuration and delivery of online thermal performance monitoring and diagnostics solutions to Gas Power and GEV Digital customers. You will actively use fleet data, tools, and methods to drive engineering and business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Aptitude or experience that would demonstrate technical knowledge and understanding of Gas Turbine, Combined Cycle and Steam Turbine Thermodynamics.
  • Excellent attention to details including strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates design creativity and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, execution, and process rigor.
  • Ability to rapidly shift priorities based on business needs.
  • Open-minded, self-motivated, and empowered to challenge thinking to dream big and take smart risks.

  • Gas Power Edison Engineer, Completion of LPX, Teardown Training, Progress toward completion of Engineering Masters degree and/or ACE Certificate
  • Fluent in English, other languages are an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead performance evaluations for Global Gas plants which include Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and overall Combined Cycle with a system level thinking and broad sphere of influence with cross functional teams to define associated performance risk levels.
  • Identify and support engineering solutions to meet strategic engineering needs related to gas turbines, steam turbines, combined cycle power plant performance improvement in the CM&U upgrades space and decarbonization technologies.
  • Focus on aftermarket HDGT/CC wing to wing value chain and fleet performance management to unlock performance value for both GE and its customers.
  • Work closely with performance testing, application engineering, design & systems engineering, product management and project engineering functions to formulate the strategic action plan to retain the guaranteed performance and/or minimize the performance risk.
  • Provide strategic leadership to be the focal function for all customer performance issues coming via ER cases, RCA, NCRs.
  • Work closely with M&D teams to drive strategic leadership and growth in the Gas Turbine Performance monitoring and Fleet Performance Systems (FPS) space.
  • Coordinate with customers, Product Line, Sales, and Engineering to ensure proposed solutions are compatible with the customer needs, design standards and established quoting limits.
  • Use Gas Turbine and plant modeling and simulation software to configure thermal models to support the requisition of GEV suite of thermal performance monitoring systems.
  • Support quality and champion LEAN/continuous improvements initiatives, design practices involving thermal performance and risk mitigation.
  • Proactively participate and support new initiatives including developing and protecting the Intellectual Property of GEV to enable impactful energy transition.
