About The Position

The Teams Performance Program Manager is responsible for the overall success of the training and conditioning required to support all Team athletes. This position is accountable for the development, coordination, communication and management of the Sports Performance Program for all Teams. It is the primary communication point for the supporting strategic partnerships, as well as providing the supporting elements of competitive winter sports that includes physiology, biomechanics, dietetics, health and wellness, and data and analytics. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Certified Athletic Trainer or similar

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for creating a positive and welcoming environment in which all conditioning, strength, health & wellness, nutrition, and sport psychology programming is performed.
  • Manages current and future partnerships with Tahoe Forest and/or other sports medicine.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills to engage athletes, coaches and those responsible for implementing.
  • Lead the creation of meaningful and compelling annual goals within the overall mission and vision of the Team; emphasis on LTAD and high-performance athletic outcomes, and coach development/advancement and retention.
  • Expanded knowledge in sport science disciplines, particularly strength and conditioning with required networking, coordination, and implementation of dietetic and sport psychology, return to sport and other athlete health programs
  • Proactively manage the Sports Performance Program and athlete development including goal setting, feedback on performance, annual reviews, etc.
  • Ensure (year-round) individual athlete and age class/discipline management programs are developed, implemented and maintained in clear communication with the age class and discipline managers, athletes, head coaches, and managers and directors.
  • Develop and implement periodic Team physical assessments.
  • Develop fitness testing procedures and protocols.
  • Develop and implement Team conditioning programs during the ‘off’ season.
  • Develop and implement athlete specific and Team segment Sports Performance Programs by coordinating and communication with segment and age class head coaches.
  • Help maintain quality and appearance of all Ski Team facilities and physical plant including Team Center, Performance Center, signage and program imaging.
  • Stay current on guest and employee health and safety regulations, including MSDS standards, universal precautions, background checks, emergency evacuation, lightning procedures, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable and stay informed on industry trends and requirements.
  • Seek feedback and input from athletes, parents, staff and company personnel on quality of products and services.
  • Actively work with the necessary governing bodies and/or their respective committees to guide the development of the Sports Performance Program.
  • Participate in and contribute toward coaches training.
  • Design innovative and scientifically-based strength and conditioning programs and sessions for designated USSA athletes throughout the preparation and competition period using approved software.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of all implemented programs.
  • Keep up to date with the latest sport science research and integrate the latest scientific findings into strength and conditioning programs.
  • On hill analysis of athletes for purpose of Sports Performance Program development and maintenance.
  • Understand and follow company policy.
  • Develop macro, meso, and micro cycles based on current training theory and periodization principles coincident with long-term athlete development practices.
  • Develop a program-wide technical and tactical philosophy and create a system for annual delivery with regular (monthly) updates and clinics for all staff (in coordination with U System and Freeride Managers).
  • Work with the Athletic Director, U System Managers and Head Coaches, Development Director and Training Manager to develop and achieve quality targets that are aligned with the company.
  • Oversee collaboration and ensure teamwork at all levels.
  • Collaborate with U System and Freeride Competition Teams for programming and scheduling.
  • Cultivate partnerships with local, regional and national programs to improve athletic and coach development through exchange of ideas and training opportunities.
  • Actively engage/influence with National Governing Body (US Ski & Snowboard) including COE and High Performance Centers.
  • Resolve guest complaints efficiently and effectively.
  • Direct and monitor quality of coaches.
  • Create a positive work environment for all staff.
  • Oversee/manage recruitment and hiring of staff.
  • Manage feedback and ensure formal reviews are provided for all staff.
  • Coordinate staff scheduling including daily schedule and travel schedule where applicable.
  • Ensure quality communication, clarity of roles, and provide staff support as needed.
  • Coordinate Facility needs Administrative Manager, Manager, Director and Palisades Banquets/Facilities Managers as necessary.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings with regularity.
  • Create a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Stay abreast of current and innovative training regimes.
  • Communicate with support staff and Head Coaches with regards to athlete injuries.
  • Work with other company departments to ensure all services are of a high quality and training venues are prepared.
