Position Overview: MPC has an opportunity for a Performance Measurement Value Chain Director! This role reports to the Performance Measurement Senior Director and is responsible for leading a team that is focused on Operational P&L calculation, KPI reporting, and monthly performance analysis. The role will extensively support the Commercial organization as well as other Middle Office teams. Middle Office is new to MPC and this is an opportunity to help shape the Middle Office relationships and process improvements. This position is open to Findlay, OH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Power BI, SAP, Right Angle, Risk Data Warehouse

Responsibilities

  • Govern the calculation and reporting of operational P&L across the fuels value chain for an assigned region, ensuring results are accurate, consistent, and aligned with established financial reporting frameworks.
  • Defines and maintains standard methodologies and pricing structures used to measure value across the value chain.
  • Lead monthly performance analysis by identifying and explaining key drivers of operational results, including margin capture, optimization decisions, and market impacts.
  • Provides clear attribution of performance across crude, NG/NGL, petrochemicals, specialties, refining, product supply optimization, and product marketing activities.
  • Translate complex operational and market information into business insights that enable Commercial leadership to understand performance outcomes, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develops structured narratives that clearly explain variances to plan and key value drivers.
  • Partner with relevant organizational leadership and Finance stakeholders to ensure consistent interpretation and application of performance measurement methodologies.
  • Supports alignment between operational performance views, risk perspectives, and financial results.
  • Ensure data integrity and methodology consistency by overseeing inputs used in operational P&L calculations and aligning data sources across systems.
  • Collaborates with data and systems teams to improve data quality, transparency, and reporting efficiency over time.
  • Provide performance transparency and support decision-making through regular reporting and analysis that aligns economic results with commercial strategy objectives.
  • Enables informed leadership discussions by delivering fact-based, well-documented insights.
  • Lead and Develop a team responsible for operational P&Ls in the assigned region.
  • Drive continuous improvement in performance measurement processes by evaluating existing calculation, analysis, and reporting approaches and identifying opportunities to enhance clarity, efficiency, and reliability.
