About The Position

We’re looking for a Performance Engineering Specialist to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on flagship development programs and play an important role in addressing some of the most complex and interesting technological challenges in Defense. The Performance role involves design, simulation, and verification of engines/power systems at a whole system level to predict, analyze, and verify whole system attributes which come from the integration of sub-system components. The role encompasses a wide range of technical activities ranging from development of thermodynamic steady state and transient models, analysis of system level attributes against product goals (both from customers and regulatory authorities), and validation of these attributes through real world physical testing. In addition, the role requires integration skills to allow requirements, data, and product understanding to be gathered and communicated across various stake holders (e.g. internal sub-system and component teams, airframers, regulatory authorities and customers).

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, and/or related degree
  • A strong passion for the future of technology
  • A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations: in most cases, you’ll be able to meet the requirements in the location you are recruited to, however, we may need you to be flexible and travel between sites during or for your internship
  • An open-minded, curious, and agile approach to work and career development
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Work authorization eligibility: To be considered, you must also be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.
  • Graduating between December 2026 and August 2027

Nice To Haves

  • Thermodynamic cycle modelling experience in NPSS preferred
  • Experience in the analysis of gas turbine cycles, and hybrid electric systems, including both steady state and transient/operability assessments preferred
  • Knowledge of preliminary engine thermodynamic cycle design considerations to meet aircraft manufacturer or government objectives preferred
  • Background planning, executing, and analyzing engine tests preferred
  • Experience with cross discipline communication and design iteration processes preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with sub-system teams to develop thermodynamic cycle models of whole engines/power systems
  • Performing thermodynamic cycle analysis using computer simulation to satisfy an overall set of system requirements
  • Communicating predictions and analysis of product attributes at the whole system/platform level.
  • Support system level verification and validation testing.
  • Publishing technical reports and present engineering analysis and results to internal and external stakeholders.
