About The Position

The Performance Dietitian will lead the delivery of comprehensive, evidence informed dietitian services for players and support the organization’s broader performance, health, recovery, and player development objectives. Additionally, this position will develop individualized nutrition and hydration strategies, support injury rehabilitation and RTP processes, oversee supplementation practices, and coordinate food service operations across the team’s training facility, home games, and travel. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, exercise science, kinesiology, sports nutrition, food science, dietetics, or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian credential required.
  • Experience in professional sports food service, program development, leadership, and clinical management of professional athletes.
  • Expertise in clinical and performance nutrition, with strong communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary sports environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or doctoral degree preferred.
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s performance dietetics, culinary, food-purchasing, and supplement programs.
  • Develop the Wizards and GoGo fueling philosophy and nutrition education curriculum.
  • Establish individualized player goals and measure progress across the season.
  • Design year round, basketball specific fueling programs and coordinate with players’ home chefs.
  • Travel with the NBA team as required and with the G League team once per season if required.
  • Coordinate menus and meal operations with hotels, airlines, arenas, travel staff, caterers, and executive chefs.
  • Oversee culinary staff, menu development, service quality, presentation, scheduling, and food quality.
  • Assess dietary practices, energy balance, hydration, and body composition.
  • Create individualized strategies based on training, energy system, performance, and recovery demands.
  • Coordinate blood testing, interpret results, and prescribe appropriate nutrition interventions.
  • Implement injury-specific nutrition protocols through the rehabilitation process.
  • Establish body-composition testing protocols.
  • Purchase and distribute NSF Certified for Sport and Informed Sport supplements.
  • Develop systems for supplement education, safety, monitoring, and utilization.
  • Collaborate closely with medical, performance, strength and conditioning, coaching, and sports-medicine staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
