About The Position

The Department of Transportation is seeking a Performance Auditor 4 to join their diverse and innovative team. This role involves performing compliance, operational, information technology, and other types of audits and consulting activities. The position offers the potential for remote work within Arizona, based on business needs and performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or closely related field plus two(2) years’ experience as an Auditor or equivalent.
  • Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
  • General business experience in the subject area of the audit function (Performance Auditor 4).
  • Minimum of two years' experience and able to demonstrate the ability to accurately, efficiently, independently, and professionally perform all of the tasks required of the "Performance Auditor 3" role (Senior Performance Auditor 4).
  • Ability to plan an audit in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (Senior Performance Auditor 4).
  • At least two years of experience operating as a Performance Auditor 3, and demonstration of proficiency in the entire audit planning tasks (Senior Performance Auditor 4).
  • Experience in performing risk assessments, internal control assessments and scoping of audit work (Senior Performance Auditor 4).
  • Minimum of three years' experience and able to demonstrate the ability to accurately, efficiently, independently, and professionally perform all of the tasks required of the "Performance Auditor 4" role (Principal Auditor 4).
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (Principal Auditor 4).
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares audit work papers to include sufficient, relevant, and competent evidence to provide a basis for conclusions reached by interpreting and evaluating data to determine if the information provided is accurate, reliable and complete.
  • Evaluates activities and internal controls to determine whether controls are designed to be effective and are implemented as designed.
  • Reviews and defines audit steps by deciding what work needs to be performed based on risk factors and adjusts the work plans to better meet audit objectives.
  • Gathers, reviews, and interprets applicable information and data to determine if work was adequately performed to make an accurate conclusion.
  • Contacts appropriate persons to specify schedules, procedures, documentation and other requirements.
  • May coordinate and conduct unannounced audits as necessary to prevent destruction of records and other information.
  • Interview agency personnel (depending on who is being audited).
  • Makes appropriate changes in audit procedures to better address audit objectives.
  • Mentors new auditors and performs audit quality control reviews (Principal Auditor role).
  • May perform in a lead capacity (Principal Auditor role).
