About The Position

The Performance Analysis Intern is responsible for supporting the delivery of performance analysis services within NYCFC’s Academy. This role involves filming, coding, and database management of daily training sessions, as well as contributing to pre- and post-match analysis support assets. The intern will also film and code Academy games when required, ensure operational requirements like uploading game footage are met by deadlines, and attend relevant meetings. The position requires a commitment to the full duration of the Academy Season (August-May) and involves working at both St. John’s University (Queens, NY) and CFA New York (Orangeburg, NY).

Requirements

  • Must have good knowledge of soccer – either as former player, coach or similar.
  • Must have proficient computer literacy skills and ability to assimilate new software and processes quickly.
  • Have flexibility to work differing hours on a weekly basis (including evening and weekends) – as agreed each week – depending on the game and schedule of First and Academy Team.
  • Must be able to commit to working for the full duration of the Academy Season (August-May).
  • Ability to manage workload, set deadlines and priorities and utilize time management skills.
  • Have an enthusiastic approach and proactive attitude.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey messages to colleagues, coaches and players.
  • Applicant must be able to comply with applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with major Performance Analysis software (Sportscode, Match Analysis, Prozone, Hudl, Taka), Microsoft software (Excel, Powerpoint) and Mac software (Keynote, iBooks Author) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience filming sporting events (ideally soccer) from a coaching perspective is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Film, code and database daily training sessions as requested.
  • Produce biweekly and monthly training reports.
  • Create and organize analysis’ support assets e.g. folder structures, reports templates, etc.
  • Film and basic code Academy games when required.
  • Contribute to the overall wider working and development of the Academy program.
  • Ensure the operational requirements, such as uploading game footage to the correct platforms, are fulfilled as per deadline requirements.
  • Attend all Academy, and other, meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
