This position is for a Per Diem Physical Therapist responsible for evaluating patient needs and implementing medically prescribed physical therapy treatments within a supervised rehabilitation program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • New York State Physical Therapy License or temporary permit.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • BLS certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA, or the American Red Cross-ARC) OR CPR/AED certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA, or the American Red Cross-ARC) is required upon entry to the position.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Physical Therapy or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the clinical education of Fieldwork students and other professional educational endeavors, teaching and supervising them in appropriate techniques, skills, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a genuine interest in assisting students in enhancing their knowledge and skill levels and encourages positive learning experiences for Career Opportunity Students and other Non-Fieldwork students.
  • Responsible for a certain level of patient care productivity as indicated by individual Unit Procedures, demonstrating the ability to provide expected patient contact.
  • Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to treat the assigned patient population.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts initial assessments and evaluations of Physical Therapy needs for assigned patient populations, reviewing medical charts and clarifying referral orders.
  • Selects appropriate assessment tools and methods to determine patient status and develop optimal treatment plans, demonstrating effective clinical decision-making and adapting plans as needed.
  • Implements treatment plans and protocols according to current professional and health system standards, establishing achievable goals with patients and families.
  • Considers a variety of validated treatment approaches and rationales for achieving patient goals.
  • Selects appropriate technical aids/assistive devices and refers patients to other clinical services as needed.
  • Assesses educational needs of patients and families and implements various methods for patient/family education and training during the rehabilitation process.
  • Completes all required documentation for patient care and reimbursement, including daily treatment records, in accordance with Department guidelines and JACHO/CARF requirements, using appropriate medical and clinical terminology.
