The Pediatrics department at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides specialized, compassionate care to children and families throughout the cancer care continuum. Working alongside physicians and multidisciplinary teams, pediatric nurses play a vital role in coordinating care, supporting families, managing complex clinical needs, and helping ensure the best possible outcomes for young patients. This Per Diem Clinical Nurse position offers the opportunity to provide direct, patient-centered nursing care in a specialized pediatric oncology environment. The role is ideal for a compassionate and clinically skilled nurse who can adapt to changing patient needs, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and provide safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced setting. In this role, you will assess patient needs, provide and coordinate nursing care, administer medications, perform clinical procedures, manage emergencies, and monitor patient outcomes. You will collaborate closely with physicians, patients, families, and other members of the care team to develop and evaluate care plans while ensuring continuity throughout the patient's care experience. Strong communication, clinical judgment, and compassion are essential to success in this position. You will communicate patient needs and clinical information with multidisciplinary team members, document care according to established standards, and use clinical technology and computer systems to access, enter, and retrieve patient information accurately. You will also support the continuum of care by participating in discharge planning, providing patient and family education, and coordinating appropriate services. Your ability to help patients and families understand their care and navigate transitions will be an important part of delivering a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate will be a dependable and compassionate nurse who is comfortable caring for pediatric patients, demonstrates strong clinical competency, and works effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in pediatric or pediatric oncology nursing is highly desirable, along with the ability to remain calm and clinically effective when managing complex patient needs and emergencies. MD Anderson offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including paid medical benefits, generous paid time off, retirement plans, tuition assistance, professional development opportunities, and additional benefits, along with the opportunity to build a rewarding career at one of the world's leading cancer centers while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families affected by cancer.
