About The Position

Incumbent provides patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Cancer Center. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assists in patient research accrual by varied projects and reviewing patient schedules against available protocols. Acts as a role model to students and Clinical Nurse's new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC)Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • One year of Oncology experience or one year of MedSurg experience and completion of OCN Cancer Basics class
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience
  • Knowledge and practice of body mechanics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques
  • Current chemotheropy/biotherapy card required within 3 months of hire
  • Current California RN license
  • Current BLS certification
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, physicians and others as part of a care team
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
