About The Position

Cohere is seeking a People Systems and Automation Manager to oversee and automate People processes as the company scales rapidly. This is a hands-on role focused on redesigning and building workflows across various tools like Rippling, Slack, and Notion. The manager will own offboarding, the employee support model, and ensure processes are scalable and efficient, moving away from manual effort towards systems and leverage. The role offers a greenfield opportunity within a small HR Operations team during a Rippling implementation, providing significant influence over the function's future.

Requirements

  • Experience building People Ops/HR Systems at a fast-growing company, ideally through a doubling in size.
  • Experience with an HRIS implementation or migration.
  • Proven ability to build workflows and automations in HR systems or adjacent tooling, comfortable with triggers, conditions, integrations, and failure modes.
  • Systems thinking approach, able to discuss triggers, conditions, failure modes, and edge cases.
  • Ability to write clearly and document by default.
  • Experience running operations across multiple countries and entities, including EOR or contractor populations.
  • Comfortable across the entire employee journey, from hire to exit.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and become a subject matter expert.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in or implementing Rippling.
  • Experience with APIs, webhooks, or integration tooling.
  • Experience in a company preparing for IPO readiness or SOC 2 and SOX.

Responsibilities

  • Design and automate People processes, mapping current states and redesigning before automation.
  • Build workflows and automations across HRIS and wider tooling, designing for exceptions.
  • Own the employee lifecycle end-to-end, focusing on removing human interaction in joiner, mover, and leaver processes.
  • Close gaps between People, IT, Finance, and Payroll.
  • Build internal mobility processes (promotions, transfers, manager changes, entity changes).
  • Remove manual handling and human error, reducing employee and manager inquiries.
  • Measure the impact of automation in terms of hours, tickets, or errors.
  • Document processes through SOPs and runbooks that are actively used and maintainable.
  • Design processes that scale with company growth and mature towards audit and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance on controls and evidence required for processes.
