About The Position

Snap Inc. is a technology company focused on improving how people live and communicate through its camera-centric products like Snapchat, Lens Studio, and Spectacles. The People Team is responsible for driving the company's values across its global workforce, supporting hiring, employee growth, and fostering a healthy work environment. The People Tech team is seeking a People Application Developer to join them. This role involves understanding product requirements, evaluating trade-offs, and delivering solutions to build innovative products and services. The developer will advocate for best practices in availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management. They will manage the automation roadmap, lead technical direction for People Team solutions, and design and develop large-scale solutions from scratch with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and maintainability. Key responsibilities include building automations and solutions to optimize People Team offerings, integrating AI solutions, automating key processes, and ensuring high-quality, well-tested solutions. The role also involves leading and mentoring junior team members, designing and developing middleware for chatbot integration (including custom code and API utilization), and enabling chatbots to automate tasks within Workday. Collaboration with product and engineering teams to integrate chatbot solutions is crucial for a smooth user experience.

Requirements

  • Experience with backend services or distributed systems
  • Experience with database design and data modeling
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, including message queues, pub/sub systems, and asynchronous processing patterns
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, webhooks, and middleware integrations across multiple systems
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and deploying services to cloud environments
  • You can independently execute on medium sized features, taking a few weeks and multiple PRs to complete
  • You understand the operational aspects of your system and may participate in incident or hotfix investigation and resolution
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others
  • Excellent interpersonal and influence skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate results clearly and effectively and execute both tactically and strategically
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
  • Experience with Workday integrations and automations
  • Familiarity with additional tools like Jira, Confluence, and other cloud-based services
  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and design concepts
  • Ability to work independently without existing infrastructure or support
  • Proven track record of building applications from scratch
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Experience integrating LLM APIs or AI services into production applications

  • Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL solutions
  • Experience with JavaScript UI frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, or Angular)

Responsibilities

  • Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver the solutions needed to build innovative products or services
  • Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management

  • Design and develop large-scale solutions from scratch, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Work closely with the product and engineering teams to integrate AI solutions into our systems
  • Automate key processes and solutions
  • Build and deploy efficient, high-quality solutions, and ensure comprehensive testing coverage.
  • Perform regular testing, debugging, and updates to maintain solutions
  • Lead and mentor junior team members, effectively delegating tasks and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Design and develop middleware solutions for chatbot integration, including writing custom code, utilizing APIs to seamlessly connect between systems (e.g., Slack, Workday, Jira, Confluence).
  • Enable chatbots to automate tasks within Workday, including making changes for employees and building custom automation workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to integrate chatbot solutions into existing systems, ensuring smooth functionality and user experience.
