About The Position

The People and Culture Administrator contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of our workforce. This includes, but is not limited to, all employee lifecycle processes, culture-building activities, conducting performance evaluations, and planning employee training. In this role, you will support setting the overall employee engagement strategy and creating a workplace in which every employee feels valued, connected, and inspired. You will unite several teams including Programs, Operations, and Senior Teams to define and drive a holistic approach towards creating a united employee community. We want your expertise, insights, and passion to facilitate effective collaboration, consistent communication, and impactful insights for our work. The People and Culture Administrator has partial responsibility for these areas: Recruiting and staffing logistics Performance management and improvement tracking systems Employee orientation and recordkeeping Compensation and benefits administration and recordkeeping Employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health reporting Maintaining employee files and the HR filing system HR and agency-related audits Employee rewards and recognition Employee training and development opportunities

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Human Resources/People Operations, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; or minimum of four years’ experience in employee life cycle processes, OR equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Three (3) years of progressive HR experience,data management, benefits or related field; Human Resources Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP or higher a plus)
  • Proven track record of excellent follow-through on assignments; demonstrated commitment to getting tasks accomplished.
  • Excellent communication skills; effectively keeps team members and employees informed on that status of assignments.
  • Project and process management skills, demonstrated track record of delivering results.
  • Must have knowledge of office administrative procedures, human resources law and practices, and employee programs.
  • Ability to handle matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint, ATS/HRIS – ADP Workforce Now or comparable platforms.
  • An appreciation for the needs of the East Harlem community and the importance of the social service work performed by Union Settlement.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with Chief People & Culture Officer and Director, HR & Employee Experience to support all aspects of their daily work routine.
  • Support maintenance HR calendar, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and events. Exercise discretion in committing time and evaluating needs.
  • Drives recruiting brand execution, sourcing and retention strategies to attract employees; co-administers modules as needed.
  • Keeps Leadership advised of time-sensitive and priority issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Researches irregularities identified on the audit reports, recommend necessary corrections and monitor that the corrections are made.
  • Interfaces with payroll, information systems and other departments to discuss HRIS maintenance and employee information.
  • Manages supply and event procurement, and invoicing ensuring accuracy.
  • Leads the effort to create an inviting, cohesive employee experience.
  • Supports the development and implementation of a sustainable rewards and recognition program that acknowledges employees’ contributions.

  • Assists with coordination and execution of company-wide special events and HR initiatives.
  • Support design, coordination and hosting employee committees and employee-led groups.
  • Work with internal and external subject matter experts in all departments to assess, develop, and deliver training activities and programs.
  • Build training brand and momentum across the organization.
  • Maintain training learning management infrastructure, training scheduling, coordination, logistics, billing, and planning.
  • Help ensure a full understanding of planned releases and impacts to training product and training instruction.
  • Develop or review course content for assigned audiences and segments, as well as specific training plans based on agreed overall scope of project.
  • Support facilitation of instructor-led and virtual training sessions.
  • Implements and manage compliance efforts with all the employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy including company goals, values, financial position, strategy, competition, technology, and culture.
  • Partners with People Operations Team to generate ideas, leverage resources and share information that facilitates an effective search process.
  • Runs regular and ad hoc reports from applicable HR systems.
  • Perform special projects, and other duties based on organizational needs.
