You’ll be the hands-on builder who designs our data model, reporting layer, and analytics practices, while partnering with People, Finance, and Exec leaders to drive insights on hiring, org health, performance, compensation, and retention. This is an IC role with significant ownership and visibility, ideal for someone who loves starting from 0→1 and scaling impact.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on analytics experience with demonstrated ownership of people analytics, business analytics, or similar domains in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong data modeling and SQL skills with experience building reliable datasets and dashboards in tools such as Looker, Tableau, Mode, Hex, or similar.
  • Proficiency working with HR systems and data (specifically Workday).
  • Able to reconcile disparate data sources and define clear metric logic.
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into crisp, actionable insights for senior audiences.
  • Excellent storytelling, visualization, and stakeholder partnership.
  • High judgment on sensitive people data, with a strong bias for privacy, compliance, and ethical use.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as the first or early analytics hire building from scratch.
  • Familiarity with modern data stacks and pipelines, including dbt, Fivetran/Stitch, Snowflake/BigQuery, or equivalent.
  • Background in industrial-organizational psychology, labor economics, or experimentation methods applied to people topics.

Responsibilities

  • Iterate on our people data stack and definitions across HRIS, ATS, performance, engagement, and finance headcount data.
  • Establish trustworthy, privacy-aware data pipelines and a single source of truth for key metrics.
  • Build core dashboards and recurring reports for executives and People leaders covering headcount, IDEA, attrition, performance and promotion, and compensation health.
  • Lead analyses that influence decisions on workforce planning, organization design, performance cycles, and retention strategies.
  • Translate findings into clear recommendations and narratives.
  • Define metric definitions, documentation, and governance.
  • Create self-serve capabilities and training so partners can access the right views with confidence.
  • Implement privacy, ethics, and responsible use standards for people data.
  • Partner with Legal and Security on appropriate access controls and reviews.
  • Establish the roadmap for people analytics at Notion and the criteria for future team growth.
