About The Position

The Pennsylvania Legislative Science and Technology Policy Fellowship, part of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Science and Technology Policy (COPA-STEP) Program, aims to bridge the gap between scientific expertise and the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Legislators and staff often need STEM expertise to address the increasing science and technology issues facing the Commonwealth. This one-year fellowship, embedded within the Joint State Government Commission (JSGC), provides a scientist or engineer with the opportunity to offer expert knowledge and advanced research, analysis, and writing skills to support data-driven policy decisions. The fellow will receive training in Pennsylvania state government, policy processes, policy writing, and communicating complex scientific information to non-scientific audiences. The JSGC is a bipartisan and bicameral research agency of the PA General Assembly, providing research and interdisciplinary studies to the legislature.
