Conducts engineering assignments for the Engineering Department, working independently and acting as a resource and lead position for less experienced personnel. This role involves reviewing design requirements and specifications for vessel & piping repairs, calculating renewal thicknesses, assisting in remaining life evaluations, and approving temporary repairs. The engineer will also oversee pressure vessel re-rates and alterations, perform stress analyses, and conduct advanced assessments for Fitness for Service. Responsibilities include providing technical assurance for hot taps, participating in safety and design reviews for pressure equipment, overseeing pressure relief valves, and reviewing project changes to ensure equipment integrity. The role also involves approving new relief devices, reviewing PRV setting changes, maintaining the PRV repair QA/QC manual, staying updated on industry problems, and acting as a focal point for code interpretations. Additionally, the position supports turnaround planning and execution, provides bolting/gasket/flange specifications, may mentor other engineers, tracks performance measures, supports refinery operations with troubleshooting, and provides mechanical review for equipment and facilities. The engineer will also assist with startups, investigate work-in-process problems, and recommend improvements.
