The Peer Treatment Adherence Educator (PTAE) supports clients living with or affected by HIV/AIDS with lifelong disease management by strengthening medication and appointment adherence in a culturally competent, confidential setting. Due to grant funding requirements, the person hired must be living with HIV. The role provides one-on-one adherence education and practical problem-solving, reinforces care plans and treatment literacy, and encourages client self-advocacy. It also involves coordinating reminders, follow-up, and referrals to reduce missed visits, and documenting services accurately and on time for program and grant requirements. The position is onsite in North Charleston, South Carolina, and is full time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some evenings required. The educator reviews their schedule, meets with clients who need additional support, checks on progress, addresses barriers, clarifies next steps, keeps notes current, protects client privacy, and coordinates with clinic flow.
