About The Position

Peer Interventionist will work on a travel and transportation study for young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) (18 years of age and older). The Peer Interventionist will be responsible for teaching the core travel training curriculum and implementing one-on-one travel training.

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interact and work well with others
A Peer Interventionist is someone who has the similar lived experiences and a diagnosis of an IDD.
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required and experience using public transportation in and around Manchester.
The ability to utilize public transportation system independently is necessary.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Requires travel in and around Manchester and its surrounding areas using public transportation.
At least 1 year of experience independently use public transportation through Manchester Transit Authority at a frequency of at least twice per week.
Understanding of Manchester Transit Authority schedule and apps.
Desire to teach and motivate others with IDD to become more independent and mobile in their community.
Participate in all aspects of training for the core travel training curriculum.
Implement the travel training curriculum.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to adherence to project deadlines.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Ability to pass a Background Check.
Support and uphold GSIL policies and procedures, workplace regulations and safety practices.
Other duties as assigned that will increase options for persons with disabilities to live independently in their communities.
