The position has primary responsibility for using their lived experience and knowledge of the system to provide outreach and engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to program clients of all age ranges. Peer Support Specialists are people who have lived experience in the mental health, judicial, and/or social service systems in some capacity. They serve as role models, companions, educators and advocates to our clients. The Peer Support Specialist will support clients in moving toward recovery, creating a meaningful role in their life, which is separate from their illness. The TAY Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) facility is a short-term voluntary residential facility. Designed to help Transitional Age Youth (TAY), ages 18-25, who experience a psychiatric crisis to safely stabilize, recover, and transition back to community. The population served includes Transitional Age Youth (TAY), ages 18-25, who experience a psychiatric crisis. This is a 24/7 Program that offers therapeutic and mental health services, rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services, medication evaluation and support services, crisis intervention, pre-vocational or vocational counseling, transition back to community, and daily exercise and health/wellness education.

Requirements

  • Active California Peer Support Specialist Certification.
  • Personal, lived experience as a consumer within the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Meet agency driver eligibility criteria.
  • One (1) year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with an eligible driving record per company policy.
  • First Aid certification from persons qualified by agencies including but not limited to the American Red Cross.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within a mental health, healthcare, or social services agency serving individuals with disabilities is preferred.
