About The Position

The Kōkua ʻIke: Center for Student Learning is committed to supporting the success of all Chaminade students, whether undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral, and whether in person or online, by offering a reduced-distraction study space, Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations, and career, proctoring, and tutoring services. This is a part-time, non-exempt position where successful candidates may work up to 19 hours per week, on an as-needed basis. The center's regular hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding holidays, but occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required based on departmental needs. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to a varied schedule are essential. Candidates must also express a willingness to respect and support the Catholic and Marianist identity of Chaminade University of Honolulu and perform all duties in a manner consistent with Marianist educational values and the University's mission. An understanding of and respect for the University's designation as an institution serving students of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island ancestry is also required.

  • Federal Work-Study eligibility through Chaminade
  • 2.00 GPA or higher (must maintain)

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist guests to the center.
  • Answer emails and phone calls in a prompt, professional manner.
  • Assist with clerical tasks, including copying, printing, scanning, and data entry.
  • Assist with maintaining a supportive and empowering environment for students using the reduced-distraction study space by acknowledging students promptly upon entry and ensuring resources are readily available.
  • Assist students with developing active study strategies to enhance academic achievement.
  • Assist students with developing SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals to support personal and professional growth.
  • Support students with ADA accommodations by reviewing and processing Proctoring Request Form submissions and bookings, and by proctoring as needed.
  • Support students with ADA accommodations by transporting their belongings between classrooms and the reduced-distraction study space as needed.
  • Provide event support as needed, including for Career Services events, Tutoring and Academic Coaching Services events, and commencement.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and university procedures.
  • Promptly report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Comply with all university policies and procedures.
