About The Position

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Assertive Community Treatment Coordinator, provides an enhanced level of support for persons with mental illness and substance use disorders. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with consumers in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Possession of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required.
  • One year of experience interacting with persons with emotional impairments required.
  • Applicants must have experienced a significant disruption in their lives from the onset of a severe mental illness, have had treatment for the mental illness and are now in recovery.
  • Must obtain Peer Support Specialist certification within one (1) year of hire through the mandatory MDCH Peer Support Specialist certification program.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both orally and in writing is required.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to communicate their personal story such that they can be a strong advocate, instill hope, and diminish the stigma for others in recovery through the interview process.
  • Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
