About The Position

Greater Nashua Mental Health is hiring a full-time Peer Support Specialist for its Emergency Services Team. The specialist develops meaningful, trusting relationships with clients, serves as a mentor, and supports clients in advocating for themselves by drawing on personal experience. The role provides clients with an example of recovery and is part of an interdisciplinary team. Services are delivered in the community and in clients’ homes, including regular home visits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience, personally or professionally.
• Ability to hold a New Hampshire driver’s license, with reliable transportation and insurance, as the role requires regular outreach and client transportation.
• Active driver’s license and an automobile with liability insurance at the agency’s minimum amounts.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivation, and a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team using evidence-based treatment modalities to help people with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders work toward treatment goals.
• Provide peer support services in the community and in clients’ homes, including regular home visits.
• Use personal life experience to engage individuals in crisis, help them connect with services and supports, and develop individualized recovery plans.
• Advocate for clients, provide transportation, and promote self-care, illness self-management, wellness, and recovery.
• Complete documentation and participate in team meetings.
• Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
