Livingston County Community Mental Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for adults with serious mental illness. This part-time position (up to 16 hours per week) involves sharing personal recovery experiences to provide supportive community services. Responsibilities include assisting consumers in obtaining housing, employment, medical care, transportation, recreation, and financial benefits, as well as accessing community resources and educating them on recovery from mental illness and substance use. Peer support specialists also advocate for and enhance acceptance of individuals with mental illness in the workplace, family, and community. Services are primarily provided in consumers' homes and the community, as well as in office settings.
