Peer Support Specialist - Fully Remote in Deming, New Mexico
About The Position

This Peer Support Specialist role is fully remote, requiring a distraction-free private office space to maintain HIPAA compliance and focus. Specialists will engage with the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line (NMCAL) and the New Mexico Peer-to-Peer Warmline, connecting with diverse individuals seeking support. The position emphasizes building empowering peer relationships, offering hope, recovery, and support services by sharing lived experience. Peer Support Specialists work closely with one another in a structured environment, participating in ongoing meetings, training, and team-building activities. Professional handling of confidential information and a continued commitment to personal recovery are essential for this role.
Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED
- Certified Peer Support Worker, Family Peer, Wraparound or Equivalent (Accepted certifications: CFPSW, CPSW, and CWF or Equivalent)
- Current experience as a peer
- Willingness to acquire certification in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
Responsibilities
- Working from home maintaining HIPAA compliance and focus requiring distraction-free private office space
- Speak with callers over the phone connecting with people
- Building rapport and client engagement
- Provide available resources or information needed
- Remaining calm and professional while multi-tasking while supporting callers
- Engage with the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line (NMCAL)
- Build empowering peer relationships with individuals who are in search of someone who will listen
- Work with and grow a connection with people as someone who has walked a similar path
- Offer hope, as well as recovery and support services, while sharing your lived experience with each person who reaches out to the New Mexico Peer-to-Peer Warmline
- Handle confidential information professionally
- Maintain a continued commitment to your own recovery
