About The Position

Blue Ridge Health is currently seeking a Peer Support Services Supervisor to be part of our Behavioral Healthcare Team. The Peer Support Services Program Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in advancing recovery-oriented services throughout Blue Ridge Health. Drawing upon the values, principles, and practices of peer support, the Program Supervisor provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Peer Support Specialists while promoting a culture of hope, dignity, self-determination, self-advocacy, wellness, and community inclusion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist credential required.
  • Meet Qualified Professional requirements as outlined in 10A NCAC 27G .0104(18).
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Peer Support Specialist
  • Lived behavioral health and/or substance use recovery experience required
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Peer Support Specialist, Community Health Worker, Community Navigator, Family Navigator, or related community-based recovery support experience preferred.
  • Supervisory, team lead, training, or program coordination experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Peer Support Services, Person-Centered Planning, recovery-oriented practice and community resources preferred

Responsibilities

  • Consistently modeling the key concepts of recovery for other Peer Support Team members and maintaining a recovery-oriented focus, tone and environment for the team as well as for service recipients
  • Demonstrating the core values of peer support by building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, employees, and members of outside agencies
  • Receiving and reviewing referrals and providing access to peer support services in a timely manner. Triaging cases to determine status (emergent, urgent, routine) and make referrals for other services as appropriate.
  • Directing, reviewing and evaluating person-centered planning activities and outcomes in a manner consistent with state guidelines.
  • Planning, organizing and directing the work of Peer Support team members to assure that services provided meet service definition standards and other internal standards of care.
  • Coordinating weekly team meetings to review administrative needs, discuss clients’ status and progress, develop work plans and ensure quality care.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, mentoring, and ongoing support to Peer Support Specialists across multiple service locations and programs.
  • Support the professional growth and development of Peer Support Specialists through training, reflective supervision, skill development, and coaching.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with internal teams, community organizations, and service partners to expand recovery opportunities and reduce barriers to care.
