About The Position

As a Peer Specialist, you will use your life experience from your personal journey of recovery of addiction and/or mental health challenges to engage, advocate, and link clients with SummitStone Health resources. Requirements

  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use issues (either personally or as a family member) with 2+ years of sustained recovery required.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required at certain locations.
  • Must complete training in SAHMSA Peer Core Competencies and COPA code of ethics prior to meeting with clients. (Training is included during the onboarding process.)
  • Must obtain Colorado Peer Certification (CPFS) through COPA (Colorado Practitioners Association) within 6 months of employment. All trainings, experience hours, and payment for this certification are provided in-house.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or completion of G.E.D. preferred
  • Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing your life experience from your personal journey of recovery of addiction and/or mental health challenges will perform direct client care for clients needing peer support services.
  • Provide direct client care through individual and group sessions face to face, phone or telehealth contact.
  • Connects clients to formal or informal treatment activities, services, and/or support.
  • Services may be community based and centered around client's recovery goals.
  • Peer Specialist cultivates mutual, supportive relationships with clients as they navigate through systems. This looks like highlighting strengths, sitting in discomfort, and walking side-by-side with clients as they move toward goals of their choosing.
