Community Access is a pioneer in supportive housing and social services for individuals with mental health concerns in NYC. The Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT) program is an innovative, trauma-informed model designed to provide flexible and comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to individuals whose needs have not been met by traditional services. IMT teams work collaboratively with participants and their networks, utilizing assertive engagement strategies to help individuals attain housing and other personal goals. The teams are multi-disciplinary, including psychiatry, nursing, social work, and peer specialists, offering expertise in housing, substance use and harm reduction, criminal justice, and behavioral health recovery. The Peer Specialist is an integral part of this team, serving as a resource for participants and team members in integrating wellness goals. This role requires an individual with lived experience in the mental health system, a willingness to share personal insights, and ideally, recovery experience related to substance use or the criminal justice system.
