About The Position

IBH Addiction Recovery, founded in 1970, is a highly effective nonprofit organization and leading provider of drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Summit County. We provide evidence-based services including Residential Treatment, Day Treatment, Outpatient Programs, Aftercare support, and Recovery Housing, complemented by spiritual guidance, all intended to offer persons with alcohol and drug addiction, and/or a co-occurring disorder, the opportunity to restore hope and gain skills for a lifetime of sobriety. At IBH Addiction Recovery, we build our treatment philosophy around four core values: Dignity, Community, Stewardship (Outcomes), and Spirituality. We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Recovery Support to help us meet the individualized needs of people in recovery and uphold those values. Job Summary: The Peer Recovery Supporter provides direct resident care and support services to recovery house residents. Responsible for tasks essential to the operation of the IBH Recovery Housing program. Maintains an environment conducive to maximum resident progress and development while maintaining healthy and safe living conditions. Creates and provides a sense of community and mutual trust within the houses with an emphasis on Dignity, Community, Stewardship, and Spirituality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Peer recovery support certification.
  • Peer recovery support supervisory designation.
  • Familiarity with and support of the principles of 12 step programming, and ability to serve as a role model to other staff and recovering residents.
  • Valid driver’s license and have an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Computer knowledge and intermediate user level of Microsoft Office, Word, and Outlook. Ability to navigate web-based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and enforces house rules, policies, procedures, program guidelines, and the Lead Peer Recovery Supporter directives.
  • Supervises and/or monitors resident participation in all activities, events, and aspects of the IBH Recovery Housing program.
  • Communicates shift activity with other staff and Lead Peer Recovery Supporter including updates on resident issues or concerns, providing input regarding resident program participation and behavior in the house.
  • Completes all reporting as assigned by the Lead Peer Recovery Supporter and as needed for resident records.
  • Completes UDS collections and administers breathalyzer tests as appropriate.
  • Oversees resident house cleaning activities to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe living environment.
  • Meets with assigned residents at least one time per week to review goals progress, and more often as needed, providing support, comfort and information assistance to residents that is consistent with achieving their recovery goals and objectives.
  • Assists House Director and/or Lead Peer Recovery Supporter to identify and resolve house problems and assist the House Supervisor in pursuing opportunities to improve resident living.
  • Assists in the self-administration of medication for residents.
  • Encourage residents to arrange their own transportation and assist in transporting residents to appointments, meetings etc. as needed and appropriate.
  • Assists residents in identifying recovery meetings to attend and encourage appropriate transportation as needed.
  • Collaborate and consult as needed with house governance, then partner with supervisor and/or housing manager as necessary on house matters.
