About The Position

A recovery support specialist is defined as an individual who possesses a minimum of a certification as a peer recovery support specialist through the ODMHSAS with a willingness to share about his/her lived experience with the intent to model a recovery lifestyle through a strengths-based framework.

Requirements

  • Ability to facilitate Peer Recovery Support- Health & Wellness Groups
  • Ability to provide one-on-one recovery support services via face-to-face and phone
  • Ability to teach and support the acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate recovery
  • Ability to refer, link, and encourage sustained involvement with community self-help groups
  • Ability to support in developing and using a Wellness Recovery Action Plan/Crisis Plan
  • Ability to assist in developing positive social networks
  • Ability to utilize, model, and teach problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to teach how to identify and combat negative self-talk and fears
  • Ability to assist in building social skills that will enhance quality of life
  • Ability to promote the knowledge of available services, options, choices, and supports including natural supports in the community
  • Ability to facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth with a focus on basic needs such as employment, housing, education/employment, and health & wellness
  • Ability to transport patients/clients as needed
  • Ability to contribute and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Ability to assist other staff in identifying program/service/resources conducive to recovery
  • Ability to complete all job-related paperwork in a timely fashion (preferred daily but within 48-hours)
  • Ability to practice safe record keeping and client privacy
  • Ability to follow CTI standards of care and meet productivity expectations
  • Demonstrate core competency in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders
  • Continual monitoring and updating of CEU’s, field-related trainings and PRSS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Peer Recovery Support- Health & Wellness Groups (smoking cessation, relaxation, budget)
  • Provide one-on-one recovery support services via face-to-face and phone to address the following: Teach & Support the acquisition & utilization of skills needed to facilitate recovery, Refer, link & encourage sustained involvement with community self-help (mutual support) groups, Support in developing and using a Wellness Recovery Action Plan/Crisis Plan, Assist in developing positive social networks, Utilize, model & teach problem solving techniques, Teach how to identify & combat negative self-talk & fears; Assist in building social skills that will enhance quality of life; Promote the knowledge of available services, options, choices & supports including natural supports in the community, Facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth with a focus on basic needs such as employment, housing, education/employment, and health & wellness, Transport patients/clients as needed
  • Contribute and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team to assist individuals to recover and carry-out the mission of the organization
  • Assist other staff in identifying program/service/resources conducive to recovery
  • Documented productivity sent to HR weekly & Hourly Timesheet Sent every two weeks to HR
  • Completion of all job-related paperwork in a timely fashion, preferred daily but within 48-hours
  • Practice safe record keeping and client privacy
  • Follow CTI standards of care and meet productivity expectations
  • Demonstrate core competency in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders
  • Continual monitoring and updating of CEU’s, field-related trainings and PRSS Certification
  • Other Duties as assigned by team members
