About The Position
A full-time position is available for a Peer Recovery Support Specialist within the Horizons programs. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist will provide non-clinical, peer-to-peer support services designed to promote individuals' health improvement, recovery, resiliency, and overall wellness. This position requires travel between all Horizons program sites, with the primary work location based at the Martinsville Horizons program. Piedmont Community Services, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, helps people, families, and our community to improve their quality of life, making the most of available resources to offer a full range of behavioral health and developmental services, from prevention and treatment to education and support. Requirements
- Minimum of one year of lived experience with substance use disorder challenges and sustained personal recovery, as documented in the application.
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist in Virginia or eligible to obtain certification.
- Willing to consent to background checks, including checks for barrier crimes, and drug screening as part of the application process.
