Requirements

  • Active Peer Support Specialist Certification in the state of Washington.
  • Must meet all eligibility requirements for Washington State Certified Peer Support Specialist certification, including the lived-experience requirements established by the Washington State Health Care Authority and Department of Health.
  • Successful completion CPR certification and crisis intervention training within 10 days of employment prior to assisting with restraining procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, psychology, human services, or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
  • One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and conduct educational, therapeutic, and/or support groups
  • Accurately record vital signs
  • Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision
  • Employ crisis-intervention techniques, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
  • Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
  • Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.
