This candidate will meet with patients who are in active withdrawal from a substance use disorder and want to participate in detox. They will provide resources, help with discharge planning, and provide other supports and assistance. This position is part of a two year grant funded by SAMHSA and administered through the State of Illinois. Trained to incorporate their unique personal experience in their own recovery with a knowledge base in human services and addiction, the Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) will engage with individuals identified with Opioid Use Disorders or other Substance Use Disorders in both the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient departments. The PRS will be utilized to decrease mortality rates and increase linkage to treatment for those living with addiction.
