About The Position

The Part-Time Peer Outreach Specialist reports to the Program Coordinator/Analyst and supports the LifeSet, Housing and Employment Launching Program (HELP), the Bridge Intensive Prevention Services (BIPS), and the REUP215 Program through recruiting and screening young adults to participate in these programs. The Peer Outreach Specialist also supports and coordinates regular workshops and events for enrolled participants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Outreach or customer service experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Friendly and able to quickly build rapport with potential participants
  • Sensitivity to racial, cultural, and economic diversity
  • Dependable and responsible
  • Ability to work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including but not limited to LifeSet Specialists, Supervisors, and participants
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including working during events that are potentially holiday-based
  • Readiness to work collaboratively within a division

Responsibilities

  • Make outreach to potential and received referrals for both the LifeSet program and the Housing and Employment Launching Program (HELP).
  • Identify and visit community locations (such as stores and businesses, community organizations, recreation centers, and outdoor spaces such as parks) for the purpose of recruiting young adults to participate in one or more of the programs.
  • Screen potential participants for eligibility and commitment to programs.
  • Accurately document outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Maintain efficient operation of the referral process for the programs.
  • Provide administrative support to the Housing and Employment Launching Program (HELP) Director and the LifeSet Program Coordinator/Analyst as needed.
  • Maintain an organizational system for tracking and recording Housing and Employment Launching Program (HELP) referrals and waitlist.
  • Assist in planning and facilitation of quarterly peer-to-peer events.
  • Co-create workshops and events to support and supplement participant learning and encourage collaboration and connection between participants.
  • Be present for all events held by the division, some of which may be held on weekend days or surrounding holiday celebrations.
