About The Position

We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic Peer Coordinator to be the backbone of our team! In this dynamic role, you will provide leadership, mentorship, and coordination of peer-based services that support individuals experiencing substance use challenges, homelessness, mental health concerns, and other barriers to health and social well-being. Drawing on lived and/or living experience, the Peer Coordinator helps create meaningful opportunities for engagement, belonging, and empowerment while ensuring services are person-centered, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and grounded in harm reduction principles. The role combines peer navigation, community development, group facilitation, systems advocacy, and community engagement. The Peer Coordinator works collaboratively with participants, service providers, community partners, and interdisciplinary teams to reduce barriers to accessing services and strengthen pathways to health, housing, and community inclusion.

Requirements

  • Lived and/or living experience with substance use, mental health challenges, homelessness, recovery, or related systems.
  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in peer support, community services, outreach, harm reduction, or related work.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating groups.
  • Demonstrated experience leading community engagement activities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with marginalized and vulnerable populations.
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction, recovery-oriented practice, trauma-informed care, housing-first principles, and the broader systems related to mental health, substance use, homelessness, and community supports.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience in community development, social services, mental health, substance use, peer support, or a related field is preferred.
